The news is out, Neways has been shut down, basically, for the next three months. All current distributors may buy and sell products, however, there is a government imposed three month moratorium on recruiting. Why? Apparently some “unethical recruiting” was taking place, and enough people got tired of it. Neways will survive this, however, it sends a loud and clear message to one of the industries largest network marketing markets in the world.

I don’t know, really, what todays ethics are. I know the dictionary defines ethics as, “a set of moral principles, esp. ones relating to or affirming a specified group, field, of form of conduct.” Some people function solely on the premise of “buyer beware.” CLEARLY, there is a conflict here. So are the buyer beware people unethical? Buyers should be aware anytime it involves investing time, money, dreams, effort, while at the same time sacrificing. The responsibility lies with the buyer to make sure what he is being sold is what it is said to be. Ideally, we would all be honest. That just isn’t the case.

Network Marketing recruiting can be done by anyone. All you have to do is pay the sign up fee, and you are in. With thousands and thousands recruiting, there will be some bad apples. Usually, if someone is really unethical, their business will not last too long. However, some are just REALLY THAT GOOD. Some of these heavy recruiters will say anything, do anything, lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever it takes to close the deal. This is at the root of dissatisfaction among the 85% of the worlds population who are not interested in network marketing.

Eithics do play a role in life, especially in a relationship business. And for the most part, one cannot escape the consequences of unethical actions for long. Neways is not the only company that has this going on, but was unlucky enought to pay the price for everyone. From time to time, the industry needs a good wake up call, thanks Neways!

YTB, among other travel mlm companies are the epitome of pure network marketing. In it’s the purest form, the classic network marketer loves an expensive and little product that pays high commissions… so there you have it. YTB, selling what one YTB distributor playfully compares as “recess” amid and industry selling “social studys.” YTB certainly does sell something- a web page. But not just any web page, how about your very own version of Travelocity? Cool!!! Right?

Well, it is cool. It is also very lucrative. YTB, or “Your Travel Biz” has experienced a boom in the travel industry over the past 5 years! However, strangely 85% of YTB’s total sales are not from travel related sales. Hummm, they really aren’t selling any travel? Signing up costs $500- WAIT, oops, my apologies- you are buying your own web page travel business for $500! Well, you can get the same business web page as an affiliate on Travelocity for free, but then where’s the fun in that? There is also a $50 a month licensing fee.

This is a network marketing professionals dream. The product costs virtually nothing for the company to produce, there is nothing to warehouse, nothing to “create” really. That leaves HUGE margins to pay back to distributors…. and I mean HUGE!!!

The marketing plan for YTB is nothing short of genius. It is one of the most generous payout to its distributors on the planet. The YTB creators are generous, sincere, and are true blue network marketing professionals. Is the product really worth something? It doesnt matter. Network marketing is as much a relationship business and a dream machine as it is something that provides a useful product or service. So why not cut to the chase?

YTB appeals to the truest of true network marketing professionals. Ones who don’t really need to ask what and why or if the product good enough. It isn’t a pyramid scheme, it isn’t a rip off really (that is if one does his research, he will know exactly what he is getting into, and if he doesn’t do it? Well, he should).

YTB is pure network marketing in all of its glory. Keep an eye on this one, they are growing like a weed, and are contemplating expanding their services… what next? Used cars? That will be interesting!!!

Many MLM companies will teach that one must retail some product to break even on personal use purchase. Generally that is true. But, any successful network marketing professional knows that the BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY is what drives this retail, not so much the product. MLM products are not meant to be retailed. If so, the price would be much cheaper. Forget about the middle-man argument, that by selling a product MLM style cuts out and thus saves costs. It simply is not true. MLM must pay out roughly 40% of all revenues to its sales force. That is a huge burden- and will basically set any MLM product to be priced at a PREMIUM.

Thinking that I can retail my product in any given store is a misnomer. In order to be successful, a pro must sell the business opportunity, not the product (which of course, must be good enough to buy). If a product was good enough to just put on the shelf, then it would be there. Getting back to what MLM is, it is the selling of a business, and people business. The sooner pro’s grasp that concept, the more they will see success. Sell the business, not the product.

ATTENTION NETWORKERS!!! Is the only way to be successful in Network Marketing is to get involved at the right time? Getting in early is the catch of any new network marketing company to hit the market. I attended a Xango opportunity meeting in 2001, where the premise was “Prelaunch, get in early and get rich!!!!”

Who can deny the truth of this? Those who sit high aloft in their good timing towers, collecting the residual checks, will do meetings and emphatically claim that timing is always good for network marketing. Lets look at the top earners of Xango- who are they? The answer is simple. The ones at the top are those who got in at the beginning.

Residual income of an mlm marketing plan is the dream that sells. The key to which is group growth occurring well beyond your contribution efforts, thus geometrically expanding your income. The problem is saturation, the timing runs out. Whether it is the business opportunity that is saturated, or the product has reached market saturation- it ALWAYS happens. There is no question that, in spite of the record growth Xango once enjoyed, Xango too has reached its end. What is the remedy? Get ready for the a string of new Xango products, a marketing plan tweak, or just something new to get the “getting in early” opportunity resuscitated. Even with this, it will be a band-aid fix, the time to get rich with Xango, sadly, is OVER!!!
